Meridian. The right latitude.
If I were to spend the weekend in Meridian, Mississippi. I would stay at the Hilton Garden Inn located off of I-20. That is until the new Marriot downtown in renovated skyscraper is completed and open. There are numerous places around Meridian to visit. The family could go out to Dunn's Falls, about 5 miles out of town. It is a waterfall located on the Chunky River that has an old Mill to tour and lake with slides, etc. You could also go see the birthplace of country music at Highland Park. There is a train which has been made into a museum dedicated to Jimmie Rodgers, the Father of country music. For lunch you would have visit one of the many local restaurants with that southern style food. They include News Restaurant, which has plate lunhces, hamburgers etc; Jeans Restaurant downtown, has plate lunches ro Crescent City which is cajun style.
